I have always loved the Union Jack and since it is Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee year this year, and London is hosting the Olympics, and more than 17 years ago, I managed to find myself a lovely British husband, I thought it opportune to do a post on decorating with this iconic flag.

Due to an Internet glitch, I am only posting my Monday Musings on Tuesday! So apologies for the delay, but perhaps it is still Monday somewhere in the world?

Some new clients of mine are planning to renovate their fireplace which got me to thinking about the type of fireplaces that I love. And since we are in the grip of winter here in Cape Town, I thought it fitting to show you my collection of favourite fireplaces.

Monday Musings - Hearth and Home

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

This new creation took weeks to make and I am very pleased with the end result. I used PMC to design the middle portion and soldered bronze edging that I carefully hammered and polished. I added aquamarine and amethyst for added interest. The hinge was used to work around a challenge with the design....so here's to happy mistakes...and creative solutions!

Taking a MetalSmithing Class from Davide Bigazzi to see how to incorporate traditional metalsmithing with Precious Metal Clay and Bronz Clay. This took awhile to work on fabrication but it is time well spent.

Adore this chunky ring band. Added some 22K gold to it and WOW! It is now my all-time favorite.
